The role of robotics in enhancing customer experience
Customer experience is at the forefront of every successful business strategy. Today, robotics is emerging as a powerful tool for enhancing customer experience across various industries. Here, we explore how robots are revolutionising the way businesses interact with customers, leading to a more efficient, personalised, and engaging experience.
The benefits of robotics in customer experience
While robots excel at automating repetitive tasks, their impact on customer experience goes far beyond simply increasing efficiency. Here are some ways in which they contribute to the experience:
Enhanced efficiency and reduced wait times: Robots can handle tasks such as order fulfilment, product delivery, and basic customer inquiries. This can free up human staff to focus on complex issues and personalised interactions. This functionality leads to faster service and reduced wait times, improving customer satisfaction. For example, Carrefour in the UAE has introduced Tally robots to automate inventory management, reducing wait times for customers looking for products.
24/7 Availability: Robots can operate 24/7. This ensures consistent customer support, even outside of regular business hours. Customers can access information, place orders, or get basic assistance anytime, making the experience more accessible and convenient. For instance, in Dubai, the RoboCafe employs robots to serve customers and handle orders throughout the day and night, ensuring seamless service at all hours.
Precision and error reduction: Robots perform tasks with a high degree of precision that can minimise errors. This leads to reduced frustration for customers. The accuracy is particularly valuable in tasks such as inventory management or product fulfilment, ensuring customers receive the correct items ordered.
Data-driven personalisation: Some robots can collect and analyse customer data. This lets businesses personalise the customer experience by tailoring recommendations, promotions, or support interactions to individual preferences. For instance, SoftBank Robotics' Pepper robot, used in various locations across the UAE, can interact with customers, analyse their preferences, and provide personalised recommendations for products and services.
Industries robots are making a customer experience impact
The potential applications of robotics in customer experience are vast, and they are already making a difference in various sectors, such as:
Retail: In-store robots can assist customers with product navigation, answer basic questions, and even personalise product recommendations based on browsing history.
Hospitality: Robots can deliver food and drinks in restaurants, clean hotel rooms, or provide wayfinding assistance. This frees up staff to focus on creating a more welcoming and personalised guest experience.
Customer Service: Chatbots powered by AI can handle basic inquiries, troubleshoot common issues, and direct customers to the appropriate resources. This reduces wait times on phone lines and provides a convenient self-service option for customers.
Healthcare: Robots can assist with tasks such as medication delivery, appointment scheduling, or even basic health screenings. This can improve patient experience and free up medical professionals to provide more specialised care. For instance, The Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi uses robotic systems for surgical procedures, enhancing precision and patient outcomes.

The idea of Dale not feeding himself for possibly days on end is terrifying when you consider that might result in him not feeding the actual newborn baby he's in charge of for similar amounts of time.
Dale is absolutely not in charge of feeding Dev. Devs primary caretakers have been au-pairs.
Dales eating disorder is just about the only trauma he's made sure Not to pass on. Even if he denies it he is aware that his eating habits are fucked, he just cant bring himself to do anything about it. If there's one thing Dale always makes sure of its that Dev at least has access to food.

Now that sotr is allowing (some) people to come to the realization that Suzanne Collins is not infallible as an author and some character decisions are a result of flawed writing rather than flawed characters… I think we all need to consider that District Thirteen, while undoubtedly militaristic and nationalist, may have been misrepresented or dramatized to fit into one white USAmerican woman’s shoddy critique of communism.

again considering how much my health has been fucking with my writing lately i doubt I’ll ever write it but like. man is dr. starline in the hypothetical bad end au sequel like. one of the absolute most despicable guys I’ve come up with. and that says a lot coming from me. the worst part is that it's all out of very bored pragmatism. he ruins at least five childrens lives in extremely horrific ways just to try and curry favour with his idol in a plan that’d never work in the first place bc he dehumanised those children so much he failed to consider eggman would be pissed at him if he broke his daughter into being the mindless obedient tool that starline assumes she’s meant to be or. y’know. drove her to suicide. which was his backup plan and something he got disturbingly close to doing. absolutely every horrific action you can think of a grown ass man doing to children who are at max fifteen (and at least one of which is single digits in age) he does them all and not out of spite or malice or even sick enjoyment. no he just wanted to curry favour with a guy who he had a parasocial attachment with and didn't even hesitate to do absolutely horrific awful things to actual children for status.

Seeing some very accurate posts about the bad arguments against genai is fun, but it's funny to me how a lot of the time people the people pointing out these bad arguments have some pretty bad ones in favour of genai.
One that's always stood out to me as kinda absurd is the one about how it helps people with disabilities who render them incapable of drawing. And that is slightly true, in the most utility focussed point of view of if someone was relying on their drawing skill just to get pictures and can no longer do that then using the temperamental art commision bot to do it instead is a viable alternative way of getting pictures.
But it's such a fundamental miss I feel in that most people who lost their ability to draw to disability aren't mourning their ability to conjure picture, but to draw, and genai doesn't let you draw it gives you a picture.
I've lost many things to disability myself, so I get the sentiment of wanting them back, I still really want to be able to do so much again. But if someone gave me a robot that I gave a few voice/text inputs to to give it an idea of what fighting style I want from it that I then set loose on the opponent or a punching bag, and told me that it'd let me experience martial arts again. That'd just be insulting.
I've seen the same sentiment from people who've lost their ability to draw who gave people market genai at them as a way to draw again, it's insulting.
